Pinot Noir Andi Weigand 2019

This Pinot Noir by Andi Weigand is a full-bodied and complex version of this elegant and noble red. The winery is located in Franconia, a region of southern Germany, and the vines are planted on a stony soil typical of the area, the 'Keuper', which gives great freshness and aromatic complexity to the wines. The glass gives off hints of red flowers, black fruits and spices, while the palate is silky, complex but also lively and drinkable. Try with intense meat stews or to drink with a barbecue

PINOT NOIR ANDI WEIGAND 2019 DESCRIPTION

Andi Weigand's Pinot Noir is a German wine, produced at the Franconia area in the heart of the nation. Andi inherited the family business in 2015 and decided to preserve traditional production methods, encouraging a good ecosystem surrounding the vineyards and respect for the land. In addition to preserving the classic barrels native to the region, Andi brought a breath of fresh air by incorporating some amphorae and Georgian qvevri.

Andi Weigand's Pinot Noir vineyards are all cultivated entirely under organic and biodynamic regimes, with the understanding that respecting nature's stages of plant development and ripening and the phases of the moon can only benefit the full development of the grape clusters. The soils are defined as "keuper" and have a composition similar to that of dolomite soils: rocky and chalky for wines with characterful structure. Harvesting is done manually and in the cellar spontaneous fermentations are encouraged by the action of indigenous yeasts. It is aged 24 months in wood.

The color of Andi Weigand's Pinot Noir is a ruby red with dim highlights. The aromas are reminiscent of red fruits such as blackberry and cassis and spices such as cinnamon; it is complex on the palate, with tannins present but well integrated and a pleasant final persistence that draws the drinker in. It is excellent paired with grilled or stewed red meat dishes, game and white meats; also interesting with aged cheeses. A product to be consumed leisurely on winter evenings with a popping fireplace in front and good music in the background.
