Nero d'Avola 'Harmonium' Firriato 2020
Perfect to give as a giftThe Nero d'Avola "Harmonium" by Firriato is one of the identity labels of the winery and is obtained from the vinification of three crus belonging to the estate located around 300 meters in altitude. On the nose, you can sense the small ripe forest fruits, rhubarb, pepper, and chocolate. On the palate, it is fresh, soft, with balanced and savory tannins.
The Harmonium by Firriato already summarizes in its name its ability to combine the power of the Nero d'Avola grape and the harmonious style imparted by the winery. A wine born from the idea of creating a "supercru" of Nero d'Avola that would be an expression of the best grapes from the most vocated plots of the estate. This intent, combined with Salvatore di Gaetano's firm belief in respecting nature and enhancing the characteristics of the famous Sicilian grape, gives life to a liquid emblem of class and elegance.
The red Harmonium comes from the best crus of the estate, namely those of Ferla, Beccaccia, and Lepre. The strong winemaking passion and love for the Trapani territory led Salvatore di Gaetano to found the Firriato winery in the early '80s. Several years of research and microvinifications have allowed the producer to create a complete and territorial expression of the island's most famous indigenous grape. After the traditional manual harvest, vinification takes place in stainless steel containers followed by malolactic fermentation. The liquid ages in French and American oak barrels for about 12 months and then rests in the bottle for another six.
The Harmonium wine reveals itself in the glass with a dense ruby color, enhanced by violet reflections. The nose moves between territorial nuances, reminiscent of aromatic herbs, plum, and carob, alongside spicy notes of vanilla, clove, and tobacco. On the palate, it is soft, caressing, and seductive, a perfect blend of the Mediterranean liveliness of Nero d'Avola and a well-polished tannin. It envelops, engages, satisfies. Impossible not to think of it with succulent game dishes or a roasted kid. Red velvet.
