Berlucchi

The Berlucchi winery is a great symbol of Italian excellence in the world: the name that originated the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines in Franciacorta and that remains a reference point for many generations. It was founded in 1955 by Guido Berlucchi, a descendant of the noble family of Lana de’ Terzi, together with his friend Giorgio Lanciani and the oenologist Franco Ziliani, who was then a young graduate of the Enological School of Alba. It was the beginning of a legendary story: from Franco Ziliani's insights and his desire to create a sparkling wine “in the French way” came the first Pinot di Franciacorta in 1961, the progenitor of all Franciacorta sparkling wines. The great success achieved by Guido Berlucchi led, over the years and decades, other producers to embark on the same path, transforming the territory into what today represents the cradle of Italian Metodo Classico.

Today, the Berlucchi wineries are managed by the Ziliani family: Cristina, Arturo and Paolo has embraced the teachings of his father Franco and has carried on Guido's legacy. In addition to the 85 hectares of property, this production reality manages another 450, for a total that exceeds 500 hectares. But the true pride of the Ziliani family consists of the vast underground caves and, above all, the historic cellar, dug 10 meters below ground level by the ancestors Lana de’ Terzi in the 1600s. Here, the bottles of sparkling wine find the ideal environment for aging. Next to the ancient cellars stands the Palazzo Lana, a fascinating 17th-century residence adorned with friezes, frescoes, and antique furnishings. It is a legendary monument, a true reference point in Italy for the pioneering spirit in the production of high-quality sparkling wines.

unites all Italians and makes them proud of their traditions.
