Remaining faithful throughout his life to a rigorous and continuous quest for quality and elegance, Giulio was a great and legendary pioneer of the Metodo Classico and helped to spread Chardonnay in Italy. After initial successes, the sparkling wine house was taken over in 1952 by heir Bruno Lumelli, who, fueled by a deep passion for sparkling wine production, continued the meticulous work in the vineyard and winery, becoming an international reference point. The collection of sparkling wines Trento DOC Ferrari, characterized by a unique style and inimitable, comes from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes that come partly from the company vineyards but mainly from a vast network of selected suppliers, covering about 800 hectares of vineyards located on the hills of Trentino. A rigorous selection of grapes, designed to maintain high quality standards in the extensive production, leads the Lunelli family to discard about 20% of the harvested grapes each year. The choice to convert the vineyards to organic farming represents a further step of fidelity and coherence to the founder's principles and is significantly contributing to the promotion of sustainable mountain viticulture. The more than 500 families of supplying grape growers are also required to adhere to strict ecological standards that prohibit the total use of herbicides and synthetic pesticides. The grapes are hand-picked at the end of summer and brought to the winery, where pressing takes place followed by a first fermentation. After the creation of the cuvées, the wines are bottled with sugars and yeasts that help trigger the second fermentation in the bottle.
