The Veuve Clicquot maison is one of the largest and most prestigious Champagne houses, strong with a very long tradition and intercontinental fame. Its history began in 1772, when Philippe Clicquot opened a wine business in Reims with a strong international vocation; suffice it to say that the first shipment of wines was shipped to Venice. The maison then passed into the hands of his son Francois, who died prematurely in 1800, bequeathing everything to the young widow Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, who went down in history as Madame Clicquotthat is, the Grand Dame of Champagne. At only 27 years old, the widow Clicquot took over the reins of the maison, demonstrating energy, intelligence, courage and determination, becoming one of the first female entrepreneurs of all time, defying commonplaces and social mores. She created the first vintage Millesimato in 1810, expanded the market in Russia with great success, invented the table de remuage, ancestor of modern pupitre, and made the first rosé d'assemblage in 1816. Today the maison is part of the prestigious LVMH luxury group and continues to produce Champagne with the same passion and desire to experiment that drove the Grande Dame's pioneering work.

Maison Veuve Clicquot has more than 390 vineyards throughout the region, comprising 86 percent of plots located in 12 Grand Cru and 20 Premier Cru. Winemaking and aging operations take place in the vast and numerous Chalk cellars that have become a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located around Reims. Under the careful supervision of chef de cave Dominque Demaville, vinifications take place either in steel or in old barrels with malolactic development, and the cuvées are prepared using high percentages of reserve wines, an element that distinguishes the style of the maison.

Veuve Clicquot's signature Champagnes are born from an approach of fidelity to tradition combined with a audacious innovative spirit, according to the motto: "One quality, the best." A quality that has continued unchanged for more than 250 years and is embodied in an elegant style endowed with strength, energy and complexity.
