Port Askaig

The queen of the Hebrides, Islay, is one of the most well-known Scottish islands in the world for the production of great whisky. A land battered by the wind, where the sea crashes powerfully against the shores, marking the days with a constant rhythm. To the northeast of the island lies Port Askaig, a small village where the port is located, the main transit point for those arriving at or leaving Islay. It is here that Port Askaig operates, a reality that focuses on selecting the most prestigious peated Single Malts made by the various distilleries located on the island, purchasing limited batches and thus creating niche products, where each sip becomes truly exclusive.

In its selection activities, Port Askaig seeks to identify those Single Malts that, more than others, tell the traditional characters of the spirits born on Islay. It identifies those productions that can captivate both those who are approaching Scottish Whiskies, as well as those who already have some experience and therefore want to try their hand at particularly intense and deep products. Once the research work is completed, the Port Askaig team bottles the product. At this stage, it adheres to the practice popular in the early 19th century, according to which the Whisky is put into glass at a strength that, according to the traditional method of calculating alcohol, requires 80 or 100 "imperial proof", which corresponds to an alcohol content between 45 and 57 degrees. It should be noted that during the bottling operations, the whisky is bottled without cold filtration and without the addition of any artificial coloring.

Port Askaig selects small batches from the most famous distilleries scattered throughout Islay, then matures and bottles them according to its quality standards. A limited and excellent range, made in a few bottles, where each Single Malt is an expression of the tradition of the island's production. Authentic whiskies, therefore, that present themselves with a contemporary graphic design, making aesthetics and packaging one of their additional strengths.
