The Ferlat artisanal production company was founded in 1950 in Cormons, in the province of Gorizia, in the eastern part of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, an area of which it is a faithful and genuine interpreter. After decades of selling wine in bulk, in 2000 Moreno Ferlat, together with his father Silvano, decided to turn the family business around by starting to sell part of the production in bottles under his own label. Today, Moreno is supported by his young partner Federica Tabacchi, who is in charge of commercial management.

The estate has 7.5 hectares under vine, which have been managed organically for over 20 years, certified since 2017. Indeed, for Federica and Moreno, cultivating plants with minimal environmental impact is a credo. With this in mind, all the vineyards are grassed with spontaneous flora, contained by adopting the practice of natural mulching and mowing, without the use of chemical herbicides. Furthermore, fertilisers of organic origin are used for fertilisation, and only copper and sulphur are used in plant protection. The varieties grown are those of the Collio tradition: Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, alongside which there is also Moscato Giallo, proposed in a rare dry version. The same pure, artisanal approach is adopted in the cellar, with fermentation using indigenous yeasts and the exclusion of oenological additives. Vinification, which takes place in cement or steel containers, also involves short or prolonged maceration on the skins for the white varieties.

The Ferlat winery is committed to continuous research aimed at producing wines with a strong and recognisable identity, always respecting the noble Friulian winemaking tradition. This philosophy gives rise to striking labels with a distinctly mineral character. Ferlat also produces a Gin from the distillation of wine and pomace, with the spirit then infused with fruits and herbs.
