Barolo 'Lazzarito' Vietti 2020
Rare winesThe Barolo "Lazzarito" by Vietti is a wine of extraordinary richness and complexity, born from fifty-year-old vines of the Lazzarito cru in Serralunga, matured for 26 months in barrique and large barrels. Jammy berries, leather, and citrus peel emerge with intensity from a consistent, fresh, and very elegant texture
The wine Barolo “Lazzarito” is one of the various expressions with which the winery Vietti loves to interpret one of the most important DOCG at the regional level, that of Barolo. A task not easy when you can rely on different plots within the most vocated crus of the territory, but which Vietti accomplishes with its usual elegance, managing to trace the characteristics of each single parcel with fidelity. The “Lazzarito” is a red vigorous and strong, with an indomitable soul, that runs on a progression where the tannin dominates, softened by the aromas on the nose, seductive and sly like never before. A gem not to be missed for anything in the world.
The Barolo “Lazzarito” is born from the pure grapes of a great native red grape from Piedmont, Nebbiolo, cultivated by the team of the winery Vietti within the homonymous cru of Lazzarito, located near Serralunga d’Alba. The vines cultivated here have an average age of about 50 years, and their roots sink into a terroir composed mainly of limestone and clay. The grapes, once selected during the harvest, ferment for about 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks, remaining in contact with the skins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood. The wine continues its journey aging for 26 months between barriques and large barrels, before being bottled and marketed.
The red wine “Lazzarito” is a Barolo that reveals itself to the eye with a ruby color, characterized by more garnet flashes at the rim. The aromas on the nose are layered and rich, telling notes of berries, alternating with more spicy sensations, deriving from the aging period spent in wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied, muscular and energetic, with a sip characterized by a pleasant freshness, as well as an austere tannic structure. A bottle that needs no further introduction, with which Vietti confirms itself as one of the most prestigious wineries not only in Piedmont but throughout the Italian peninsula.
