BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO GIODO 2017 DESCRIPTION

The Brunello di Montalcino of Podere Giodo winery is a red wine of great elegance, complexity and structure of the famous winemaker Carlo Ferrini. The Florentine oenologist, after having made so much talk about himself both in Italy and abroad for his consultancy to prestigious companies, both in Tuscany and not, has started his own production buying 2 and a half hectares of vineyards south-east of Montalcino. The Brunello di Montalcino Podere Giodo is produced with Sangiovese grapes coming from more than 15 different clones, specially selected for their low yields able to guarantee a high quality of the grapes.

The vineyards, planted on soils rich in skeleton and limestone at an altitude of about 300 meters, are naturally protected, given their proximity to Mount Amiata, from hailstorms or storms of particular intensity. The vinification process begins with the alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel containers using exclusively indigenous yeasts and continues with a gentle and short-lived maceration, without pumping over to avoid an excessive extraction that could blur the elegance of the wine. Aging takes place in oak barrels of 500 liters for about 24 months.

The Brunello of Giodo winery has an intense ruby red color, with hints of red fruit including strawberry and cherry, of ripe black fruit such as blackberry and dried blueberries, floral aromas of violet and roses, to finish with hints of spices among which stand out chocolate and liquorice. On the palate it is slightly tannic, dry, warm and robust with a persistent finish. This Brunello produced by Giodo winery is a red wine which expresses a modern style, rich and powerful but at the same time with great roundness and substance.
