Cannonau 'Mustazzo' Sella & Mosca 2021
The Cannonau 'Mustazzo' from the famous Sardinian winery Sella & Mosca is a red wine with a strong Mediterranean character. With its scents of Mediterranean scrub, highlighted by myrtle, and the juicy and fruity notes of blackberries, blueberries, and underbrush, it surprises on the palate with its freshness and dynamism, making it a perfect wine to accompany a platter of cured meats and aged cheeses, or typical dishes of Sardinian cuisine!
The Cannonau "Mustazzo" by Sella & Mosca originates from our beautiful Sardinian island, near Alghero. The history of the winery began more than a century ago with engineer Sella and lawyer Mosca, originally from Piemonte, but in love with Sardinia, where they discovered a wonderful territory for grape cultivation. In 1899, the reclamation of the 15 hectares of land purchased took place, and the first vineyards were planted with indigenous grape varieties to give new prestige to this land. Today, the estate ranks as one of the largest in Europe, with surrounding lands reaching 540 hectares, worked and cared for with the aim of enhancing and valuing a territory, where nature and history meet and blend. The work has been further increased and improved with the arrival of Antonio Marras, who led to the production of the first Metodo Classico from Torbato grapes.
The vineyards of Cannonau "Mustazzo" by Sella & Mosca are composed of plants with an average age of about 55 years. The altitude of the vineyards is about 600 meters above sea level, where significant temperature variations are recorded that ensure full ripening of the grapes and enhance the fruity and tannic components. The climate is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers and mild winters, thanks to the influence of sea breezes. In the vineyard, human intervention is kept to a minimum, with no use of pesticides or synthetic chemicals, aiming to respect biodiversity and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards. After the harvest, in the winery, destemming takes place with extra gentle pressing; followed by maceration with delestage to facilitate the extraction of soluble substances. It ages in wood and in concrete.
is recommended with cuts of red meat cooked on the grill or stewed, first courses dressed with rich sauces and aged cow's milk cheeses. Perfect for accompanying the family Sunday table to enjoy an authentic product that is the result of a centuries-old experience.
