The Cannonau di Sardegna ‘Nostranu’ by Berritta Dorgali is a youthful and accessible interpretation of the territory of the Oddoene valley, where the estate's vineyards are located. In particular, the grapes destined for this bottle come from the youngest vines, cultivated under certified organic farming practices, as is the entire vineyard area of the winery. The Berritta production reality is also part of FIVI, the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers, an association aimed at promoting and protecting the figure of the independent winemaker.
Berritta Dorgali Cannonau di Sardegna ‘Nostranu’ is a 100% Cannonau grown according to the principles of certified organic agriculture. The vines from which the grapes come are about 20 years old and are located on particularly draining soils formed from granite disintegration, at an altitude of 180 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in boxes at the beginning of September, and the bunches are then transferred to the winery and subjected to to the operation of destemming. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins for 8-10 days through the action of the natural yeasts present on the grapes and in the winemaking environment. During this phase, daily manual pump-overs are performed, and subsequently, the malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously. The maturation always takes place in steel and lasts for 8 months until bottling and final commercialization.
‘Nostranu’ Cannonau di Sardegna by Berritta Dorgali is a light ruby red. On the nose, fruity notes of cherry, raspberry, and blackberry emerge, combined with subtle vegetal and spicy hints. Fresh and juicy sip, smooth and drinkable, with soft tannins and a pleasant fruity finish.
