The Catalanesca 'KATA' from Cantine Olivella is a white wine produced at the foot of Mount Somma, the oldest wine-growing area in the Vesuvian region, made from Catalanesca, an indigenous grape variety of the area, favored by winemakers. A wine with a strong volcanic personality, expressed in a pronounced mineral vein both on the nose and palate. The bouquet expresses notes of yellow flowers, citrus zest, and fruity hints, while the sip is dynamic, smooth, pleasantly fresh, savory, and persistent. To be tried with fish dishes from Campanian cuisine!

The Catalanesca “KATA” is the symbolic wine of Cantine Olivella, a beautiful reality in the Vesuvian area, committed to recovering and enhancing the great winemaking traditions of the territory. It is produced with a rather rare grape variety, of ancient Spanish origin, which arrived in these lands during the Bourbon domination and is cultivated practically only on Vesuvius. The grape, in fact, has adapted very well to the volcanic soils and mild climate and produces grapes with very intense aromas. The wine stands out for its particular harmony and expressive elegance, played on the balance between rich fruity notes and clear mineral freshness. A white to discover, dedicated to enthusiasts in search of small artisanal productions.

“KATA” Catalanesca is a white that comes from an estate located near Sant’Anastasia, on the first slopes of Monte Somma, on the northern side of the Vesuvius volcanic complex. Cantine Olivella cultivates 12 hectares of vineyards at an altitude ranging from 350 to 600 meters above sea level. The vines are still today grown on rootstock, with the varieties that have always been present in this area: Catalanesca, Caprettone, Piedirosso, Aglianico, Guarnaccia, and Sciascinoso. The estate's philosophy is focused on producing straightforward and direct wines that can authentically express the character of the Vesuvian terroir. The Catalanesca vineyards have a northeast exposure and are characterized by soils composed of volcanic sands. They are loose and light soils, very draining and rich in mineral elements suitable for supporting the vine. The grapes are harvested at full ripeness and are pressed very gently. The must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine always matures in steel for a few months before being bottled.

The white Catalanesca "KATA" from Cantine Olivella is a wine with a territorial face, which very well expresses the combination of a grape that has been present in Campania for centuries and the volcanic soils of Vesuvius. It has a beautiful bright light yellow color with slight golden reflections, and it expresses on the noseintense and rich aromas that recall ripe citrus fruits, yellow-fleshed fruit, peach, loquat, apricot, pineapple, nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, and mineral hints of graphite. Rich and harmonious, on the palate it is broad and enveloping, with ripe fruit and a savory and pleasantly fresh finish.
