The "Ceccante" from Grillesino is a wine originating from Maremma Toscana, born in a productive reality created through a partnership with the brand Marchesi Antinori. The winery opened its doors in 1999 with the aim of producing qualitatively impeccable red wines. It is located in the hilly area of Magliano in the vast province of Grosseto, a territory increasingly appreciated for its excellent red wines. The goal has been to create a modern reality attentive to details, to give more and more prominence to the native grape varieties of the area, making this unique piece of land known worldwide.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes of the "Ceccante" from Grillesino grow in a predominantly Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, humid, and dry summers refreshed by breezes from the sea and mild winters never subject to sudden frosts. The name "Ceccante" refers to a hero of Tuscan popular tradition who took refuge in Maremma to escape persecution for helping the poor and defenseless. Thevineyards are located about 200 meters above sea level and have a high planting density, but low yields for wines with authentic flavors. The harvest is manual and in the cellar, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occurs in wood. It ages for 16 months in barrique and 10 in bottle.
To the eye, the "Ceccante" from Grillesino presents itself with an intense and impenetrable ruby red color. The bouquet of aromas recalls blackcurrant, blackberry, sour cherry, and finishes with notes of licorice. On the palate, it reveals itself as elegant, structured, and enveloping with a significant final persistence for a decisive sip. It pairs excellently with traditional Tuscan red meat dishes, first courses with rich sauces, and aged cheeses. An interesting product suitable for the family festive table, sipping from the glass a wine that encapsulates the great potential of Maremma Toscana.
