The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo "Malandrino" by Cataldi Madonna is a light and ready-to-drink Rosé made from Montepulciano grapes that surprises with its fresh and intriguing fruity bouquet, with beautiful persistence and pleasantness
The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo "Malandino" by Cataldi Madonna is a true symbol of the great winemaking tradition of the region. It is a rosé obtained from pure Montepulciano grapes, with good structure and a rich and fleshy fruity bouquet, fresh and persistent. A wine with a great gastronomic vocation, which pairs well with a platter of cold cuts, white meats, or seafood dishes with tomato.
The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo "Malandrino" Cataldi Madonna is born in Ofena, in a flat plateau located at an altitude between 320 and 450 meters, at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif and the Monti della Laga. The area benefits from a very particular microclimate, characterized by warm and sunny days, always refreshed by winds descending from the mountains and the nearby Calderone glacier. It is no coincidence that this area holds the oldest evidence of vine cultivation in Abruzzo, before its presence spread along the hills of the Adriatic coast. The grapes come from the Montepulciano vineyards cultivated in Macerone, with Abruzzese pergola systems and a density of 1500 plants per hectare. After a cryomaceration of part of the grapes, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 15-18 °C. The wine matures in contact with the fine lees for a few months before being bottled.
The rosé Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo "Malandrino" is a classic of the Cantina Cataldi Madonna. A wine that is part of the Abruzzese tradition and stands out from rosés produced in other areas of Italy for its more intense color, rich aromas, and good aromatic persistence, making it an ideal table companion. The color is intense and bright pink. The bouquet opens with notes of cherry, strawberry, and small red berry fruits. On the palate, it has a good structure, with dense and full fruit, leading to a finish of good persistence and freshness.
