It is made exclusively from Verdicchio grapes, the emblematic grape of the region that produces material and saline, maritime wines. The ‘Cercanome’ by Tomassetti is a white wine from the Marche region that surprises with its ability to combine smoothness and character. The Tomassetti winery was established in 2015 with the purchase by brothers Andrea and Matteo Tomassetti of 4 hectares of old vineyards located in the municipality of Senigallia, in the province of Ancona, planted with Verdicchio, Trebbiano, and Sangiovese. The wines produced by the two brothers are straightforward and spontaneous expressions that do not look to the market but aim to reflect the territory from which they come in a simple and genuine way.
Tomassetti ‘Cercanome’ is made from only Verdicchio grapes coming from a vineyard of one hectare over 40 years old, planted in 1982 on clay-limestone soils. The agronomic management follows the principles of organic farming, integrated with biodynamic practices, and the vines enjoy a full east exposure and an altitude of 110 meters above sea level. The grapes are hand-picked in boxes and then transferred to the winery for white winemaking with whole clusters, with soft pressing and alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in cement tanks. The subsequent aging phase, which lasts for 6 months, also takes place in cement on the fine lees, with 30% of the mass maturing in old barriques. After an additional 12 months of aging in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for market release.
The ‘Cercanome’ from the artisanal winery Tomassetti has an intense straw yellow color. On the nose, intriguing aromas of yellow apple, wisteria, and lemon peel are perceived, combined with peculiar hints of almond and iodine. The taste is intense and aromatic, with good body and intense sapidity, with a very fresh balsamic and almond finish.
