CHAMPAGNE BRUT 'LES MUSES' MICHEL HOERTER 2015 DESCRIPTION

Michel Hoerter's "Les Muses" Brut Champagne is one of the most important labels from this artisanal Recoltant Manipulant Maison in the Vallée de la Marne. True to the traditions of the area, it is a cuvée composed mostly of Meunier, with small percentages of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The long aging on yeasts for over 6 years gives the Champagne a mature and evolved profile, with elegant aromas of fruit, bread crust and spicy nuances. This is a label of good complexity and aromatic depth, perfect to enjoy throughout a meal, even with important pairings.

Brut "Les Muses" is a Champagne produced only in the best vintages, sealing a particularly favorable year in terms of quality. The vineyards of the Maison Michel Hoerter estate are located in the vicinity of Essômes-sur-Marne, in the western part of the Vallèe de la Marne. A total of 9 hectares of vineyards are cultivated, with a clear predominance of Meunier, the variety traditionally most widely planted in this area of Champagne. In the countryside, the principles of environmentally friendly agriculture are followed, with grassed vineyard inter-rows, only mechanical mowing and use of only organic fertilizers. A choice that indicates a commitment to keeping the natural ecosystem in balance without forcing and letting the plants find their natural productive and vegetative balance.

Hoerter's Champagne Millesimé "Les Muses" comes from a selection of the best grapes from the estate's vineyards, which have an average age of around 40 years. The grapes are vinified separately with soft pressing and fermentation of the musts in stainless steel tanks. The base wines rest a few months, also carrying out malolactic fermentation, before the creation of the final cuvée. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise method, staying no less than 78 months on the lees. It is light yellow in color, with a very fine and continuous perlage. The bouquet is intense and elegant, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, peach, apricot, hints of bread crust and pastry. The sip is long and deep, with complex and evolved aromas, anticipating a harmonious finish, characterized by a lively mineral freshness. This is a refined Champagne, ideal for those who love the aromatic facets of long aging.
