The Chianti Classico ‘Poggio Teo’ from Valiano – Piccini is a bottle characterized by a taste in balance between opulence and freshness, the result of a careful winemaking process. The estate of Fattoria Valiano, one of the five estates expertly managed by the Piccini family, extends over 230 hectares, of which 75 are reserved for vineyards, included in the prestigious area of Castelnuovo Berardenga, one of the 8 municipalities of Chianti Classico. The origin of the name Valiano can be traced back to the name of an ancient Roman general, to whom these lands were granted due to his military merits.
The ‘Poggio Teo’ Valiano – Piccini Chianti Classico originates from a blend of Sangiovese (90%) and Merlot (10%) grapes grown in the area of Castelnuovo Berardenga according to the principles of certified organic farming. After the harvest, the grapes are crushed in steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation with skin maceration. This is followed by an aging phase consisting of 3 months in barriques and a further 9 months in large barrels, in search of the right balance between the woods. The final release into trade takes place after an adequate resting period in the bottle.
The ‘Poggio Teo’ Chianti Classico from Valiano – Piccini shows in the glass a lively garnet red color with ruby reflections. The olfactory profile encompasses intense aromas of cherry, plum, and flowers such as violet and lavender, enriched by fascinating hints of black pepper, tobacco, and cedar wood. The roundness and opulence on the palate are well balanced by pleasant freshness and the sculpted tannin, anticipating a tasty savory and mineral finish rich in iron sensations, capable of evoking the characteristics of the vineyard from which the grapes come.
