Chianti Classico Riserva 'Montebuoni' Castello di Ama 2021
The Chianti Classico Riserva 'Montebuoni' Castello di Ama is a red wine from Tuscany that fully represents the elegance of Sangiovese, enriched by a hint of Merlot. The aging in barrels gives the wine delicate spicy nuances, which accompany the pronounced notes of berries, especially blackberry and currant. Soft, seductive, and rich on the palate, with a long and very persistent sip, this Chianti Classico is the perfect accompaniment for main courses based on red meat or game.
The Chianti Classico Riserva ‘Montebuoni’ from the renowned Tuscan estate Castello di Ama is an authentic and elegant Chianti interpretation born from the territory of Gaiole in Chianti, a municipality located in the southeastern part of the Gallo Nero area. This label was first marketed with the 2018 vintage as the heir to the Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Ama, produced for the last time in 2009. The ‘Montebuoni’ is almost a pure expression of a single plot purchased and replanted in 1997 next to the famous Bellavista vineyard.
The ‘Montebuoni’ Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Riserva is made from Sangiovese grapes combined with a small percentage of 5% Merlot. The vines rest on clay-limestone soils, located at an altitude between 420 and 500 meters above sea level with northwest and southeast exposure. Following the harvest, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature accompanied by over 3 weeks of skin maceration, at the end of which malolactic fermentation also takes place. The subsequent aging phase occurs in second-pass French oak barriques and lasts for 12 months, followed by an additional year of bottle aging before the final market release.
Castello di Ama Chianti Classico ‘Montebuoni’ Riserva is of intense ruby red color. The nose unfolds with sensations of berries, particularly blackberry, raspberry, and currant, enriched by enticing spicy, mineral, and herbal notes. The taste is harmonious, fresh, and balanced, characterized by a mature tannic structure that accompanies the elegant persistence on the finish.
