Cote Roite "La Landonne" is among the most important and sought after expressions of Syrah in the world. It is made on the dry soils of the Rhone Valley and ages for at least 40 months in barrique. It embraces the palate with a warm, velvety and seductive sip, of surprising richness and softness, accompanied by a complex and rich bouquet of currant and blackberry jam, dark tobacco, nuances of sweet spices and smoky hints
Côte Rôtie "La Landonne" is one of Maison Guigal's most famous bottles, an expression of one of the most prestigious parcels on the Ampuis estate. Together with the other two labels, "La Mouline" and "La Turque," it makes up the territory's most famous trilogy, appreciated by the greatest connoisseurs of Rhône Valley wines. It is a particularly intense, rich and structured version of Syrah, with considerable aging potential. The child of a terroir with exceptional characteristics and a rigorous selection of grapes, from historic vineyards managed with very low yields, it represents a unique taste experience.
The Côte Rôtie red wine "La Landonne" is the fruit of the deep knowledge of the terroir of one of the most important family businesses in the Rhone Valley. Maison Guigal manages vineyards in the region's most celebrated Appellations, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, and Crozes-Hermitage, and produces wines that authentically express the characteristics of each individual terroir. The vineyards of the Côte Rôtie are cultivated on steep terraces that cut through the shale slopes rising from the Rhone. The splendid sunny positions, stony soils and the constant presence of the Mistral provide the ideal environment for Syrah. The "La Landonne" parcel is characterized by stony, clay-limestone matrix soils, rich in iron oxides. The vines have an average age of 35 years and produce only 35 hectoliters per hectare. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for at least four weeks. Before bottling, the wine matures for 40 months in new oak barrels.
"Maison Guigal's "La Landonne" is a legendary Côte Rôtie wine that allows one to appreciate one of the most interesting expressive nuances of Syrah, an ancient European grape variety born from the crossbreeding of Mondeuse Blanche and Dureza. To the eye, it has a dark and luminous red color. The olfactory picture is intense and rich, with aromas of blueberry, black currant, nuances of licorice root, hints of freshly roasted coffee, bitter cocoa, soft oriental spices and black pepper. Rich and powerful, it expresses a dense sip of aromas, enveloping thick, ripe tannins. The finish is very persistent, harmonious and spicy. A high-end wine, to be enjoyed on a special evening among great connoisseurs.
