Côtes du Rhône Rouge La Granacha-Estézargues 2022
ArtisanalThe Côtes du Rhône Rouge by La Granacha is a red wine of great expressiveness and character that tells the land of the Rhone through an assembly of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre grapes. It has a fresh, round and soft profile, with a sip that outlines a good intensity and richness, with notes of small dark fruit, Mediterranean scrub, spices and earth
Côtes du Rhône Rouge La Granacha from Domaine - Estézargues is an untamed expression of Grenache, the symbol variety of the Mediterranean coast, not just French. It is produced within the young local denomination Signargues.
Estézargues makes its Côtes du Rhône Rouge La Granacha from meticulously selected Grenache grapes from a single parcel, where different ages and pruning methods coexist: only the fruits from 80-year-old vines, grown using the ancient bush training system, are harvested. The harvest is mandatory done by hand and the yield is decidedly limited, standing at around 30 hectoliters per hectare, with always optimal maturation. Over time, the plot has been planted with other different varieties: the cuvée is composed of a true blend, with a balance of 20% Mourvedre, Carignan, and Counoise grapes, the extremely local variety of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape area. The soils are characterized by red clays with a significant presence of galets, located along the right bank of the Rhône, at the height of the city of Avignon. Once harvested, the bunches are completely destemmed and fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts, without any use of oenological additives, at a temperature not exceeding 20 °C. At the beginning of the 4 weeks of skin maceration, some punching down is performed, while the subsequent aging lasts for 10 months in old wooden barrels. Bottling is done without filtration, nor clarifications or stabilizations.
persistent spicy finish offers this red a happy pairing with grilled red meats, or aged cheeses.
