Custoza Zenato 2025
The Custoza by Zenato is a young, fresh white wine, ready to drink. On the palate, it is pleasant and clean, soft and balanced, with fresh hints of wildflowers and white fruit
The Custoza from Zenato is produced in the area between Lugana and Valpolicella, 95 hectares of land divided between white and red grape varieties. The winery is family-run: in 1960 Sergio Zenato followed his passion for the world of wine, investing in new winemaking techniques and in the enhancement of native grape varieties. His children Alberto and Nadia have been able to treasure their father's legacy, aiming to respect the fruits of the land and transform them into wines with an authentic and unique flavor.
The Garganega, Chardonnay, Friulano, and Cortese grapes of the Custoza from Zenato come from the Venetian shore of Lake Garda and grow on soils mainly composed of limestone, clay, and gravel for a final product with character and elegance. The climate is predominantly continental with cold, low-rainfall winters and hot summers influenced by the fresh breezes from the surrounding mountains. The harvest is done manually in September and in two different phases depending on the grape varieties involved: the first grapes to be harvested are the Friulano and the Chardonnay, followed by the others. In the winery, the bunches are subjected to soft pressing and then undergo alcoholic fermentation in steel. It ages for a few months in steel.
To the eye, the Custoza from Zenato appears a pale straw yellow with brilliant reflections; on the nose, one can perceive hints of white flowers such as wisteria and notes of white-fleshed fruits like pear, apple, and white peach. On the palate, there is softness, balance, and roundness, calibrated by a persistent final freshness that invites drinking. It pairs well with dishes based on light appetizers for aperitifs, steamed fish, and raw fish tartare; interesting also with savory pies made from seasonal vegetables. A product born from the passion and expertise of a family, whose primary goal is respect for nature and the gifts it offers.
