DOLCETTO DI OVADA RISERVA 'NONNO RUCCHEIN' CASCINA BOCCACCIO 2015 DESCRIPTION

The "Nonno Rucchein" Dolcetto di Ovada Riserva by Cascina Boccaccio is a structured Piedmontese label with heady aromas, capable of elevating the qualities of the Dolcetto grape variety. In the commune of Tagliolo Monferrato, on the border with Liguria, Cascina Boccaccio produces wines of exemplary typicality, with an artisanal and sustainable production approach. In the vineyard, organic farming practices are followed, while in the cellar, intervention is minimal, aimed solely at enhancing the intrinsic characteristics of the grapes. In this perspective of valorizing the territory, Dolcetto plays the star role and this bottle represents its highest qualitative expression.

Cascina Boccaccio's "Nonno Rucchein" Dolcetto di Ovada Riserva is made from the variety of the same name processed in purity. The vineyards were planted in the 1980s on clay and limestone soil in the commune of Tagliolo Monferrato, at an altitude of 300 metres. Following manual harvesting, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, for a duration varying from 14 to 21 days, with 2 weeks of maceration on the skins. Ageing for 24 months takes place in 10 hl Slavonian oak casks. Once bottled, the wine rests for 6 months before release.

The Dolcetto di Ovada Riserva Nonno Rucchein Cascina Boccaccio expresses a ruby red colour with garnet hues. Intense aromas on the nose, evoking notes of ripe wild berries, black cherry and cocoa, combined with bucolic hints of earth. In the mouth, it is dry and full-bodied, complex and pleasantly rustic, with a lashing freshness. A Dolcetto far from the stereotype of an immediate and easy-drinking wine, capable of pairing well with rich and succulent dishes.
