"Drinking Wine" is an Australian red wine with a fresh, playful profile that comes from a blend of Malbec, Syrah and Pinot Noir grapes. Notes of small red fruit and light spice accompany a light, agile, torrential-drinking copro. Best served slightly chilled!
The red wine 'Drinking Wine' from the Australian project Express Winemakers is an expression of the terroir of the Great Southern, Western Australia, which impresses with its smooth and juicy drinking. The brains and brawn behind the Express Winemakers project are Ryan O'Meara and Pete Ikstrums, first-generation winemakers who are committed to the recovery and enhancement of abandoned vineyards scattered across the land. They work with countless varieties, vinified through a wine-making approach that is never invasive, based on spontaneous fermentation and the exclusion of any manipulation.
Express Winemakers 'Drinking Wine' comes from a blend of Syrah, Malbec and Pinot Noir grapes from vineyards between 22 and 30 years old cultivated in accordance with the principles of organic farming. In particular, the plots are located in the Mount Baker and Frankland areas, planted on soils characterised by a high concentration of silt, sand and gravel, at an altitude of 200-250 metres above sea level. In the cellar, the process involves red wine vinification with brief maceration on the skins and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the same wine containers where the maturation period of a few months takes place before final bottling. Throughout the entire production process, no clarification or filtration operations are carried out.
The 'Drinking Wine' from Express Winemakers has a soft red colour reminiscent of strawberries. On the nose pleasant fruity hints of raspberry, blackberry and cherry alternate with herbaceous sensations and deeper hints of liquorice. The taste is fresh, juicy and drinkable, very typical and smooth, with fine tannins that anticipate theintense fruity finish.
