The Etna Rosso "Carusu" is a medium-bodied red wine, rich and expressive, aged in barrel for at least 6 months. It features intense spicy and fruity aromas, with sweet notes of cherry and ripe red fruit, on the palate it is flavorful and lively, mineral, soft, and pleasantly warm

Terrazze dell’Etna ‘Carusu’ Etna Rosso is configured as a typical expression of the denomination in its mineral and spicy soul. The winemaking reality of Catania, Terrazze dell’Etna, owes its name to the characteristic terraced amphitheater where the vineyards of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante lie, with a lesser presence of international varieties. Instead, the name of this bottle derives from the homonymous term in the Sicilian dialect that means “boy,” highlighting how the wine is produced from the youngest vines with the intention of modernly retracing the history of Etna reds.

The ‘Carusu’ Etna Rosso from Terrazze dell’Etna is made through a blend of Nerello Mascalese (80%) and Nerello Cappuccio (20%) grapes, grown within the municipality of Randazzo, on the north-western slope of the volcano. The vineyards, with an average age of 30 years, are trained in the Etna bush style on dark soils rich in skeleton formed from the disintegration of ancient volcanic flows.volcanic, at about 600 meters above sea level. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by at least 40 days of contact between the must and the skins, with periodic pump-overs and punch-downs. After 6 months of resting in stainless steel tanks, with complete malolactic fermentation, the mass is transferred to tonneau where it matures for 6 months before further aging for a year in the bottle.

The ‘Carusu’ Etna Rosso from the Terrazze dell’Etna winery has a bright ruby red color. The aromatic spectrum unfolds with intense and expressive hints of cherry in spirits, ripe red fruits, and wilted violet, enriched by perceptions of dark spices and ash. The tasting, rich and flavorful, is soft, warm, and fresh at the same time, endowed with dense yet velvety tannins. It concludes with persistent fruity and mineral sensations.
