Franciacorta Brut Nature Millesimato Enrico Gatti 2018
Callmewine's FavouritesThe Franciacorta Brut Vintage by Enrico Gatti is a full-bodied and elegant sparkling wine, obtained from Chardonnay grapes and aged for 50 months on the lees in the bottle. It has a lively complexity, with aromas of fresh fruit, wildflowers, and baked goods in evidence. On the palate, it is fresh, savory, and fruity, with long persistence.
The Franciacorta Brut Millesimato by Enrico Gatti is a sparkling wine of great elegance and refinement that is made from pure Chardonnay grapes and remains on its own lees for at least 50 months. We are in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, in a small family-run business that has maintained a strong historical and cultural bond with its territory since 1975 when Enrico decided to purchase a small plot to plant his first vines and thus realize the dream of a lifetime.
It was then the children Lorenzo and Paola, with husband Enzo, who carried on the project and brought the Enrico Gatti winery to its current level of quality. A quality that is characterized by the enhancement of territorial typicity. The Chardonnay vines from which this Franciacorta Brut Millesimato originates are located on the classic hills of Franciacorta and enjoy a morainic soil.
The peculiarity of this sparkling wine from the Enrico Gatti house is that the must ferments 70% in French oak barrels and matures for six months on the fermentation lees, while the remaining 30% is vinified in steel. It then follows a stay on the lees of at least 50 months. This develops delicate fruity and citrus notes, where the notes of peaches, pineapple, and vanilla dominate, with a beautiful floral hint and interesting mineral nuances.
