Perfect to drink every day'Smarazen' from the Mariotti winery is an Emilian semi-sparkling wine made from Trebbiano Romagnolo and Malvasia di Candia grapes. The proximity to the sea gives the wine pleasant saline nuances, which are expressed on the palate in a fresh, vibrant and pleasantly mineral sip, while the nose accompanies delicate aromas of white flowers and citrus zest. The perfect wine for an aperitif by the sea!
The Frizzante sui Lieviti ‘Smarazen’ from the family-run winery Mariotti is a bottle-fermented wine that is appreciated for its lively and smooth taste. At the base of this label are the grape varieties Trebbiano Romagnolo and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, white grape varieties traditionally grown in the Bosco Eliceo area, close to the delta of the Po River, not far from the Adriatic Sea. The name of the bottle derives from the local dialect and refers to the card game smarazzino, in reference to the convivial character of the wine.
Mariotti Frizzante sui Lieviti ‘Smarazen’ consists of a blend of Trebbiano Romagnolo (70%) and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica (30%), grape varieties grown in the Bosco Eliceo area on predominantly sandy soils. The grapes of the two varieties are hand-picked and gently pressed together, with the must thus obtained undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at low temperatures in cement tanks, the same wine container where the mass remains to mature for a short period. This is followed by the sparkling process in the bottle for about 60 days and, after a few months of aging in glass, the wine is marketed without undergoing any disgorgement.
‘Smarazen’ Frizzante sui Lieviti by Mariotti has a hazy straw yellow color due to the absence of disgorgement. On the nose, delicate aromas of white flowers and lemon zest are perceived, accompanied by slight herbal hints. Fresh and vibrant is the taste, characterized by a citrus finish and pleasant salinity. To fully enjoy this bottle-fermented wine, the producer himself recommends shaking the wine before uncorking it to re-suspend the yeasts, giving creaminess to the taste.
