Semi-sparkling Red Wine Sui Lieviti 'Surlié' Mariotti
ArtisanalThe Semi-sparkling Red Sui Lieviti "Surlié" by Mariotti is a typical wine from the Ferrarese region. Produced with Fortana grapes, a precious native variety of the area, this wine is made with a 'family method', that is, it develops its effervescence in the bottle, without adding sugar. Fragrant notes of red fruits dominate the nose, where slight hints of saltiness emerge on the finish. At the first sip, one thing is immediately apparent: this wine has great drinkability! The juiciness, freshness and slight tannin entice the sip and another sip more
The ‘Surlié’ Frizzante Rosso on the Lees from the Romagna estate Mariotti is characterized as a red wine refermented in the bottle with a crisp and dynamic taste, of remarkable drinkability. It is an alternative interpretation of pure Fortana grapes, an indigenous black grape variety also known as Canina Nera or Uva d’Oro. The vine stands out for the pronounced acidity of the grapes, a characteristic that successfully allows for sparkling winemaking. The name Fortana derives from the word “forte”, probably referring to the robustness of the grape or the high productivity of the plant.
The Frizzante Rosso on the Lees Mariotti ‘Surlié’ is a 100% Fortana from sustainably grown guyot-trained vines on sandy soils in Fondo Luogaccio, in the Bosco Eliceo area. The bunches are hand-picked usually in the first decade of October and are then immediately transferred to the winery for destemming and crushing operations. The must obtained undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentationspontaneous in cement tanks in contact with the pomace for 10 days, followed by a light sparkling in the bottle according to the Classic Method, without any racking. After a few months of resting on the lees, the wine is finally marketed.
To the eye, the Frizzante Rosso on the Lees ‘Surlié’ from the Mariotti winery shows a ruby red color with purple hues. The olfactory range offers immediate hints of cherry, gooseberry, and violet, surrounded by evocative iodine notes. On the palate, it is fresh and fragrant, savory and tannic, very drinkable thanks also to a light but lively effervescence that accompanies the pleasant fruity finish.
