Unusual grapesThe Fumin by Grosjean is a red wine with a clear and fruity profile, born from the heroic viticulture practiced on the steep slopes of the Aosta Valley. The aromatic profile is focused on notes of small berries, interspersed with spicy sensations of cloves, cinnamon, licorice, and black pepper. Opulent and full on the palate, with elegant tannins and a pleasant freshness
The Fumin from Grosjean is a classic expression of this interesting Valdostan grape variety, which local winemakers have managed to preserve over the centuries and enhance in recent decades, riding the wave of renewed enological interest and enthusiasts towards indigenous grape varieties. It is a red with an artisanal face, made by a small winery that works with great attention and love for a territory characterized by an still unspoiled alpine ecosystem. The cool climate and significant temperature variations give a fresh and intense red ideal for pairing with second courses based on red meats or small game.
The Fumin wine from Grosjean comes from vineyards that cover just over one hectare and are located in the municipalities of Quart and Saint-Christophe. They are cultivated on a steep slope facing south, southwest, on predominantly sandy soils, rich in skeleton, of ancient morainic origin. The agronomic management follows the principles of organic farming, without the use of chemical substances and with fertilization only organic. At the end of the harvesting operations, which generally take place in the second half of October, the grapes are destemmed and sent for fermentation, which takes place using only indigenous yeasts, maceration on the skins for about ten days and periodic pump-overs. The wine matures for 15 months, partly in wooden vats and partly in steel, and completes the aging in the bottle.
The red Fumin from Grosjean is a wine of great territorial typicity, dedicated to those who wish to discover the peculiar characteristics of indigenous grape varieties and love the slender and vertical profile of the reds produced in the alpine area. In the glass, it presents a rather dark ruby red color with bright reflections. The olfactory profile expresses intense aromas, which especially recall small dark berries, the shady hints of underbrush and humus, the nuances of mountain herbs, the notes of soft spices, and the toasted and woody memories. The sip is rich and broad, with a dense and elegant tannic structure. The finish is of good taste persistence, characterized by the typical freshness that distinguishes the wines mountain. Already pleasant to taste now, it has good aging potential.
