Gewurztraminer 'Exil' Baron di Pauli 2023
The Gewürztraminer Exil is an aromatic and embracing white wine from Alto Adige that ages exclusively in steel. Intense and typical notes of rose petals, tropical fruit, cinnamon, and nutmeg animate an elegant, slender, and fresh body, balanced by a good alcohol content.
The white Gewürztraminer “Exil” is the classic example of aromatic wine from Alto Adige. A label that, thanks to the processing carried out exclusively in steel, we could define as almost educational, so precise is it in presenting the aromas and the typical flavors of the varietal of origin. A bottle equipped with a particularly refreshing drinkability, which thus brings with it an excellent gastronomic versatility, a characteristic to which the Baron di Pauli winery is always very attentive, a production reality that boasts a history of over three hundred years within the Alto Adige terroir.
“Exil” is a pure Gewürztraminer that comes from vineyards scattered within the Alto Adige denomination. The grapes, hand-picked during the harvest phase, are brought to the facilities dedicated to winemaking, to then be destemmed. Soft pressing of the selected berries follows, and the must obtained from this operation ferments in steel containers, macerating on the skins for 20 days. Finally, it continues with the aging, in which the wine remains to stabilize for several months in steel, before being bottled and marketed.
The Gewürztraminer “Exil” reveals itself to the eye with a straw yellow color, characterized by light golden reflections, clearly visible especially in the rim during color analysis. Refined on the nose, with a clear aromatic imprint, where notes of rose petals alternate with hints of tropical fruit and light spicy whiffs. On the palate, it is light-bodied, slender, with a refreshing sip, endowed with a nice final persistence. A white faithful to the varietal of origin, which is well suited to accompany dinners based on fish and seafood.
