Gewurztraminer Muri - Gries 2024
The Gewurztraminer Muri - Gries is an aromatic white wine produced in South Tyrol and aged in steel. Rich and sumptuous on the palate, with a long and flavorful finish, it expresses notes of ripe fruit, flowers, cloves, and smoky nuances on the nose. It pairs well with fish dishes or spicy Asian cuisine.
Through its typical aromatic nature, the Gewurztraminer from the Muri - Gries convent winery is able to delight and satisfy the taster's senses. This grape variety, recognizable by the characteristic intense pink color of the bunches, indeed belongs to the category of aromatic varieties, a group that includes those cultivars characterized by very fragrant berries, endowed with peculiar and easily recognizable aromas that will then pass directly from the grape to the finished wine. In the case of Gewurztraminer, these aromas can be traced back to tropical fruits like lychee and flowers like rose petals. Often vinified in a sweet or semi-sweet version, the South Tyrolean tradition, however, provides for the production of Gewurztraminer that is typically dry.
Muri - Gries Gewurztraminer is an expression of the eponymous pink-skinned variety cultivated in the areas of Appiano, Caldaro, and Bolzano on calcareous and clayey soils, located at an altitude of about 400 meters above sea level. Following the harvest, the grapes are vinified in white through gentle pressing and fermentationin stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 19 °C. Still in steel, the wine matures for a few months until bottling, which precedes its final release on the market.
The Gewurztraminer from Muri - Gries has a brilliant golden yellow hue. On the nose, intense aromatic scents of flowers, ripe fruit, clove, and exotic fruits emerge, joined by a slight smoky note. Full and enveloping sip, with excellent body and structure, accompanied by a soft aromatic sensation leading to a fine finish. In general, Gewurztraminer represents one of the most classic pairings with Eastern cuisine, especially with spicy Thai dishes.
