The Gin London Dry 'Sapphire' from the British production reality Bombay Sapphire is a world-renowned bottle distinguished by its iconic blue color. This gin has remained true to the ancient 1761 recipe created by distiller Thomas Dakin, and to this day Bombay Sapphire employs two Carterhead copper stills dating back to 1830, unique in their class, which were given the nicknames Tom and Mary.
Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin 'Sapphire' is crafted from 10 botanicals sourced from exotic locations around the world and hand-selected by Master of Botanicals Ivano Tonuti. These botanicals include: Tuscan juniper, Moroccan coriander, dried lemon peels and almonds from Spain, Chinese licorice, cassia from Indochina, Italian iris, grains of paradise from West Africa, Java pepper and Angelica root from Saxony. Ivano has built personal relationships with each grower so that he can rely on high-quality ingredients. To avoid altering the organoleptic properties of the botanicals, instead of boiling them, a gentle steam infusion is used to preserve the aroma and flavor of each ingredient. During the infusion process, the botanicals are combined with alcohol, and distillation takes place in sought-after Carterhead stills, now only two in existence worldwide, both of which are used by the Bombay Sapphire distillery.
On visual examination Bombay Sapphire's London Dry Gin 'Sapphire' shows a clear, bright appearance. The nose is percussed with hints of citrus and flowers, supported by intense hints of oriental spices and juniper. Aromatic and harmonious palate, with great freshness and persistence on the citrus and spicy notes perceived on the nose.
