Lo Hierà Rosso by Hauner is a red wine of medium intensity and structure, born from red grapes of the Aeolian Islands and aged in barrique for 6 months. Delicate aromas of small red fruits, cocoa, and tobacco accompany a sip of good sapidity and freshness, harmonious and expressive

Wine can sometimes be born from the most unpredictable situations, the result of chance or, for those who believe, of destiny. At the end of the 1960s, Carlo Hauner, after the usual summer holidays spent in the Aeolian Islands, begins to think about moving to these areas, radically changing his life. Salina strikes him more than all the other islands, and so the painter-designer decides to become a winemaker, giving life to a productive reality, Hauner, which over the decades has contributed to the rebirth of Sicilian wine with identitary and original products, just like this Hierà: a bright and elegant red, which Carlo dedicates to the inventor and scientist James Stevenson, the first to plant vineyards in Salina in the nineteenth century.

This Hierà is a red made by Hauner starting from an important base of Nero d’Avola, 60%, to which a percentage of Alicante and a pinch of Nocera is added. The grapes, carefully selected to ensure only the best of the terroir of origin, macerate and ferment in steel, where they then remain to age for 12 months;follows a quick passage in barrique, which precedes the bottling phases.

The Rosso Hierà produced by the Hauner winery takes on a rich and intense color in the glass, reminiscent of ruby. The aromas that develop on the nose recall small red forest fruits, with more incisive notes reminiscent of tobacco, sweet spices, and iodine nuances. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a balance that makes the sip pleasant, a characteristic also fueled by a finely integrated tannin; it finishes with a finish characterized by a savory aftertaste. A bottle that revives the pioneering spirit of James Stevenson and that, once finished, will leave you with a great memory in your heart.
