LECINARO 'ZITORE' PALAZZO TRONCONI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Lazio biodynamic winery Palazzo Tronconi presents Lecinaro 'Zitore,' a sought-after red wine of extraordinary authenticity. Marco Marrocco, owner of Palazzo Tronconi, has carried out a laborious and noble work of recovering ancient native varieties of Ciociaria, bred according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. These include Lecinaro, a grape that was entered in the National Register of Vine Varieties only in 2010 and of which Marco is one of the very few interpreters, strongly intent on valorizing it. It is a late-ripening vine that gives rise to harmonious wines with delicate tannins and a remarkable predisposition to aging.

Palazzo Tronconi's Lecinaro 'Zitore' is a 100% Lecinaro grown in accordance with the dictates of certified organic and biodynamic agriculture on predominantly clay and limestone soils. Manual harvesting is followed by mashing of the grapes in concrete tanks, where alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place spontaneously, conducted by indigenous yeasts and lactic acid bacteria, respectively. The ensuing 15-month maturation period also takes place in cement, and the mass is finally bottled without undergoing any stabilization, clarification or filtration.

The Latium red wine Lecinaro Palazzo Tronconi 'Zitore' possesses a soft ruby red hue. Intense and articulate aromas of prune, cinnamon stick, tobacco leaf and chocolate emerge from the glass. Very drinkable and juicy the palate entry, with a rich progression driven by pleasant fresh-sappy drive and soft tannins, in a lingering, flavorful lengthening. A bottle to pair with red meat preparations, such as tagliatelle with meat sauce or herb roasts.
