Lugana 'I Frati' Ca' dei Frati 2025
Lugana "I Frati" is the pride and joy of the Ca' dei Frati winery. Fully expressive of the characteristics of Turbiana, it offers a fresh, delicate and elegant personality when young, giving way to more complex and evolved characteristics as it ages, when notes of green apple and white flowers give way to nuances of apricot and almond, with a distinctly mineral finish
Ca' dei Frati's Lugana "I Frati" is the symbol of the winery located near Lake Garda. A wine with two sides: it can be enjoyed young for its freshness and simplicity, but it also expresses its best years after bottling, when it reaches perfect maturity. With this expression, the famous winery wants to tell its story and its connection with local varieties. Thus, 'I Frati' is the most representative image of the lake and the pride of the house, because Ca' dei Frati has succeeded in making one of Italy's lesser-known grapes, Turbiana, also known as Trebbiano di Lugana, known and appreciated throughout the world.
Lugana Ca’ dei Frati derives from the terroir and vines, which are up to 40 years old, planted in the lower Garda area, on calcareous and clayey soils caressed by an ideal microclimate. The cuvée is the result of a careful selection of grapes from various plots which, once fermented in steel and 80% malolactic, are blended to give the final wine its characteristic identity; ageing takes place for 6 months in steel with the presence of fine yeasts. The process ends with a further 6 months of ageing in the bottle.
Lugana "I Frati" wine is a varietal white wine with a straw yellow colour. It is pleasant and able to satisfy the desire for immediate freshness and lightness, but also the needs of those looking for an elegant white wine that can be left to age for a few months in the cellar. When young, it tickles the nose with fragrant floral aromas of white flowers and fruity hints of apple, plum and citrus framed by a hint of minerality. With age, it is enriched with iodine hints, tertiary notes, spices and candied fruit. On the palate, it is fresh, direct and fine, accompanied by a pleasant savoury note. Only with ageing will more mineral and balsamic sensations emerge, highlighting its good structure and full, pleasant body. A versatile wine, but one with great passion. To be enjoyed with grilled lake fish with vegetable side dishes, lightly seasoned fish soups or margherita pizza.
