Santa Sofia, a Venetian winery founded in 1811 and custodian of a centuries-old tradition, produces a fresh and fragrant Lugana that encapsulates the essence of Pedemonte, a sun-kissed location cradled by fresh breezes. This white wine, made from pure Trebbiano di Lugana, embodies the elegance of the Veronese lands and invites you on a timeless sensory journey, enriched by a long and slightly almondy finish.
The vineyards that give life to Lugana Santa Sofia extend over calcareous-dolomitic soils, rich in basalts and volcanic materials, which confer a rich aromatic complexity to the wine. The winemaking process, involving destemming and gentle pressing of the grapes, is followed by a maceration of about 10 days in stainless steel at controlled temperature to preserve the freshness and aroma of the Trebbiano di Lugana. The aging then occurs for at least 12 months, with part in 500 L French oak tonneaux and part in 20-30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, giving the wine an important structure. After that, the Lugana matures for another three months in the bottle.
The Lugana Santa Sofia appears in the glass with a straw yellow color of relative intensity and brilliant greenish reflections, anticipating an elegant and refined aromatic bouquet.
