Merlot 'Quercegrosse' Vallepicciola 2020
The Quercegrosse by Vallepicciola is a pure Merlot that is inspired by the great Bordeaux of Pomerol. It is presented in goblets with an intense ruby color furrowed by light nuances of garnet and releases intense notes of dark fruit such as cherries, dried plums, raspberries surrounded by aromas of Mediterranean aromatic herbs and hints of cocoa. The taste is elegant and velvety with soft and silky tannins.
The Merlot Quercegrosse from Vallepicciola is born in the heart of Tuscany, among the hills of Chianti Classico. An expression of the ancient lands located on the eastern slope of the charming village of Castelnuovo Berardenga, interpreted through a great internationally renowned grape variety. A wine of great character, in which an elegantly French soul and a decidedly Tuscan body coexist. A bottle of great longevity from one of the most famous wine regions in the world.
The Vallepicciola Quercegrosse comes from a single vineyard called Poggione, located 400 meters above sea level and planted on soils characterized by great diversity and exposed to the southwest. The soils are predominantly clayey and calcareous, with the presence of galestro and alberese, the typical rocks of this subzone of Chianti Classico, where Merlot finds its best expression. The grapes are hand-picked around the second half of September and vinified in stainless steel tanks, with macerations of about 25 days. It follows, according to Bordeaux tradition, a aging in French oak barriques for about 12-14 months and further refinement in the bottle for about 6 months.
The Merlot from Vallepicciola expresses a great personality in the glass; a deep ruby red color with violet reflections and a nose of great olfactory power, where the fruit, particularly the notes of raspberry and blackberry, perfectly blend with soft aromas of vanilla and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the entry is rich and sumptuous, characterized by fine and elegant tannins with a complex finish, where smoky and chocolate notes emerge. A great red, with long persistence, that recalls a classic pairing of the territory, the typical fiorentina, but also other famous land dishes of Tuscan cuisine.
