Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 'Mazzamurello' Torre dei Beati 2021
Perfect to give as a gift
Organic and biodynamicThe "Mazzamurello" Riserva is a red wine of remarkable structure, a unique and authentic expression of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The long aging of 20 months in barriques adds spicy and vanilla tones to an olfactory profile of considerable intensity and complexity, composed of ripe red fruit, licorice, and balsamic notes. The taste is muscular and enveloping, harmonious and concentrated, with a very long persistence in the finish
The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “Mazzamurello” Riserva of Torre dei Beati originates in Loreto Aprutino in the province of Pescara. The winery has been family-run since 1999 and its name is a tribute to the fresco of the Last Judgment from the 1400s present in the local church of S. Maria in Piano, where the tower of the blessed represents the final goal of souls after death. Adriana Galasso and Fausto Albanesi have recovered old native grape varieties, so they could be valued again to create quality products linked to tradition, with great sensitivity towards the nature surrounding their vineyards.
The vineyards of the Riserva Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “Mazzamurello” of Torre dei Beati since the 2000s have been entirely cultivated following the dictates of organic farming, in total respect of the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards, so that the soil is fertile and well-suited for the growth of tasty grapes. The plants are located about 250 meters above sea level and their age is around 40 years. The grape harvest is done manually and the bunches are selected in the vineyard to then be stored in twenty-kilo crates; once in the winery, a new selection is made, so that only the best are processed. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel and then ages for 20 months in barriques with batonnage on the fine lees.
The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva “Mazzamurello” of Torre dei Beati presents itself with a ruby red color with intense reflections. The aromas released are those of ripe red berry fruit, sweet spices, and balsamic notes on the finish; on the palate, it has a good persistent and balanced structure with an interesting freshness on the finish that invites you to drink glass after glass. It is recommended to pair with elaborate red meat dishes such as beef stew and wild boar stew; also interesting with first courses dressed with important sauces and with aged cheeses made from cow's and sheep's milk. A product to share at the family holiday table to honor special occasions and anniversaries.
