The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Terraviva is a red wine that has its roots in the territory of Tortoreto, in the province of Teramo. Produced exclusively with Montepulciano grapes, this product represents an excellence of the area, where manual harvesting in small crates highlights the attention to detail in the selection of the berries. The producer, Tenuta Terraviva, embraces respect for traditions and the enhancement of the territory, creating a wine that requires aging in cement tanks and the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts in vinification. These elements are precise and distinctive, anticipating the unique characteristics that will then emerge in the tasting.
The quality of a wine begins in the vineyard, and the Montepulciano from Tenuta Terraviva is no exception. The Montepulciano grapes, carefully cultivated in the vineyards of Tortoreto, are hand-harvested in small crates during the first decade of October. The crushing phase is delicate and aimed at preserving the integrity of the berries. Vinification takes place in steel tanks, where the must macerates for 10-14 days with manual pump-overs,ensuring a careful and respectful management of the grape's characteristics. The fermentation is spontaneous, thanks to the use of indigenous yeasts, helping to fully express the terroir. Before bottling, the wine rests for 12 months in cement tanks, an additional touch that gives depth and complexity to the Montepulciano Terraviva.
The Montepulciano from Tenuta Terraviva presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color and purple reflections, highlighting its vitality and richness. On the nose, notes of cherry, berries, red flowers, Mediterranean herbs, and dark spices emerge, creating a enveloping and complex bouquet. The sip is soft, yet intense, with structured tannins that give the wine a strong personality. The fruity and balsamic finish adds a pleasantly persistent note. This Montepulciano pairs well with cheeses and hearty dishes based on red meats, offering a versatility that makes it suitable for different moments of the meal. The ability to evolve in the cellar adds another element of charm, inviting connoisseurs to enjoy an ever-growing complexity over time.
