Zaccagnini's "Tralcetto" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the simplest and most fragrant version of the Montepulciano produced by the Zaccagnini winery. Fermented solely in steel, without the use of wood and with a shorter maceration, it results in a wine of medium structure that prioritizes immediate drinkability. The main protagonists on the palate are the aromas of red fruit with hints of spice and a fresh finish. It's a perfect wine to pair with flavorful first courses from the Abruzzo cuisine and, more generally, with pasta dishes featuring meat or game ragù.
Zaccagnini's "Tralcetto" is the typical young, carefree, and less demanding red wine from Abruzzo. It's the everyday wine reinterpreted according to modern oenological standards, which allows for elegant reds that are highly drinkable. The grapes come from vineyards located in the hinterland of Pescara, just a few kilometres from the coast, in the area of Bolognano, a splendid hilly zone with a mild and temperate microclimate that allows for perfect grape ripening. After the harvest, the Montepulciano grapes are taken to the cellar, where they undergo a soft pressing. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with submerged cap maceration. It then matures for several months in steel before being bottled.
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Tralcetto" is the label that best represents Montepulciano's tradition and more popular vocation. It's a wine with a pleasantly fruity character and a smooth, agreeable, and gratifying taste. It has a ruby red colour with light violet reflections. On the nose, it expresses aromas of cherry, sour cherry, plum, red fruit, and delicate spicy nuances. On the palate, it has a medium body with a nice tannic texture, rich and crisp fruit, and a finish with good freshness and persistence.
