Morellino di Scansano 'Ribeo' Roccapesta 2023
The Morellino di Scansano "Ribeo" is a soft and deep red wine, aged for 12 months in cement. It has intense aromas of red fruit, spices, and tobacco, and a juicy and well-balanced taste, supported by good freshness and well-integrated tannins.
The Morellino di Scansano ‘Ribeo’ is a label that stands out for its smooth and accessible drinkability, produced by the Tuscan estate Roccapesta from a solid base of Sangiovese, the most important grape variety of the area, complemented by a small percentage of Alicante. The name of the bottle refers precisely to the great enjoyment of this Morellino, so striking that a friend of the owner, tasting it, defined it as “a wine that goes straight to the heart, a wine that I drink and re-drink,” meaning “I drink and re-drink.”
Roccapesta Morellino di Scansano ‘Ribeo’ comes from a blend of Sangiovese (93%) and Alicante (7%), grapes grown on mixed composition soils, generally rich in skeleton and clay, located between 200 and 270 meters above sea level. The average age of the vines is about 10 years, and the harvest is carried out manually with careful selection of the bunches. In the winery, the grapes are vinified in red in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while the subsequent phaseof aging takes place between cement tanks and bottle for a total period of 18 months.
The ‘Ribeo’ Morellino di Scansano from Roccapesta expresses a bright ruby red color. The nose is deep with its intense hints of red fruits, spices, and tobacco that blend with dark sensations of underbrush. The sip, warm and soft, stands out for its juicy freshness and fine tannins, characteristics that are the basis of its excellent agility and smoothness on the palate. Due to its balance and accessibility, the Morellino di Scansano ‘Ribeo’ is a wine suitable for everyday use, pairing well with meat-based first courses, second courses of white meats, and medium-aged cheeses or cured meats.
