The "North Slope" of Eduardo Torres Acosta is a volcanic, magnetic, and sanguine red wine from Etna, the result of vinifying Nerello Mascalese together with a mix of other local white and red berry varieties. A child of the sandy and stony terroir of the volcano, it transfers the same minerality to the nose and mouth, supported by aromas of red-fleshed fruit and a fine, clear, and powdery tannin.

The Rosso Versante Nord by Torres Acosta is a synthesis of warmth and finesse, yet another gem from one of the most promising winemakers in Italy. What a sharpshooter Eduardo is! Each of his labels never fails to leave an impression, thanks to territorial interpretations that are at once personal and capable of striking deep chords. Eduardo, a Spaniard transplanted in Sicily, after various experiences including the prestigious winery of Arianna Occhipinti, decided to rent 2 hectares on the northern slope of Etna, to produce wines that had a strong connection to such a vocated terroir. Hence, the choice to use no chemical or synthetic products either in the vineyard or in the winery, where fermentations occur spontaneously. Radical, sanguine, welcoming yet not immediate: Eduardo's wines are all this, and more. Few bottles, which risk being contested!

The northern red is made from a blend consisting of 80% Nerello Mascalese and the remaining 20% from indigenous white and red grapes, as per local tradition. The clusters are selected from vineyards with bush vine and trellis over 50 years old, located at about 600 meters above sea level and resting on sandy soils of volcanic origin. In the winery, the grapes are only partially destemmed as spontaneous fermentation occurs partly with whole clusters, with a maceration lasting 15 days in cement containers without temperature control. Aging of 16 months in Slavonian oak barrels.

The Red Versante Nord wine shows itself in its intense and deep ruby hue. The nose is rich with various suggestions, among which cherry, plum, carob stand out, along with blood-like memories and mineral bursts. However, it is in the mouth that the wine displays all its class, an emblematic manifesto of purity and tension, of finesse and profound saline contribution. The generous material, never excessive, delivers a dynamic and shifting red. Three-dimensional.
