The Passerina “Villa Angela” from the Marche winery Velenosi is a white wine that captivates with its subtle aromas, the freshness of the fruit and the savory pleasantness of the sip. It is produced with pure Passerina grapes, an ancient indigenous variety that has been rediscovered and enhanced especially in recent years, when there has been a renewed focus on the invaluable richness of the historical grape heritage of our peninsula. It is a perfect label to enjoy with seafood appetizers or delicate fish dishes.
The Passerina “Villa Angela” wine is produced by one of the most important realities in the Marche region. The Velenosi estate is located in the countryside of Ascoli Piceno, in a splendid pre-Apennine hilly area, characterized by a cool climate tempered by the breezes of the nearby Adriatic Sea. The Passerina vineyards are situated at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level and are cultivated on medium-textured soils with good sandy components. The vines are trained in Guyot style with a density of about 5000 plants per hectare and produce just over one kilogram of grapes per plant. The harvest takes place manually around mid-September. After selecting the best bunches, the grapes are gently pressed and fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 13-15 °C. The wine rests for a few months in steel at a constant temperature of 10 °C, before being bottled in the spring following the harvest.
The Passerina “Villa Angela” by Velenosi is a typical wine of the Marche region. The ancient Passerina grape variety most likely takes its name from the winged shape of the bunch, which resembles a sparrow. In the glass, the wine presents itself with a straw-yellow color with subtle golden reflections. On the nose, it opens with aromas of white flowers and linden, notes of white fruit, pear, citrus hints and nuances of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is lively, with a delicate mid-palate, savory and mineral. The finish expresses a vibrant freshness.
