Pathos' Santa Barbara 2022
The "Pathos" by Santa Barbara is a red wine made in the Marche region with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah grapes, aged in barrique. Fragrant and enveloping, it releases hints of black pepper, bell pepper, bitter cocoa, and tobacco with plum and sour cherry in the background. On the palate, it is solid and generous, with well-present tannin and a pleasantly balsamic finish.
The "Pathos" from the Marche winery Santa Barbara is a wine with an international face, made with a blend of famous French grape varieties. The elegance and intense aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon are joined by the harmonious softness of Merlot and the rich, spicy character of Syrah. The result is a fragrant, rich, and enveloping red, which is aged for a full 18 months in barrique. It is a label that expresses complexity and structure, ideal for pairing with roasted red meats or game.
The red "Pathos" from Santa Barbara demonstrates how the most famous red grape varieties of French origin have acclimatized well in the hilly territory of the Marche. From an initial core of just a few hectares, the Santa Barbara estate has progressively expanded to reach the current 25 hectares of property, plus about fifteen hectares rented. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level, with plots scattered in the locations of Arcevia, Montecarotto, Serrade’ Conti and Barbara. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah are vinified separately, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before being released for sale, the wine matures for 18 months in barrique.
The "Pathos" wine from Santa Barbara is a blend of French grapes, which finds its territorial dimension thanks to the mediterranean and temperate climate of the Marche. The color is a rather intense garnet red. On the nose, it expresses a bouquet of ripe small berries, currants, blueberries, cherries, notes of black pepper and oriental spices, hints of cocoa and blonde tobacco. The taste is harmonious and deep, with good aromatic complexity, fruit ripeness, and an evolved tannic texture. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant fruity note in memory.
