for a long time. Ideal when paired with local dishes such as a mixed fried fish, or with raw or cooked shrimp

Pigato Riviera di Ponente from the Du Nemu winery fits perfectly into the perfect groove of typicity of an area that has always been identified with the cultivation of this particular grape: with intense aromas and interesting evolutionary capabilities, marked marine minerality, and the unmistakable rosy spots that dot its surface.

Du Nemu produces its Riviera di Ponente by vinifying the Pigato grapes in purity, which come from the municipality of Camporosso, in the extreme western Liguria of the province of Imperia: practically overlooking the sea, the vines are cultivated using the ancient alberello system and offer an exposure towards east-southeast. The plot called Monte Curto is located at an altitude of about 150 meters and is characterized by a soil that expresses the alternation of marls and sandy sediments, above which the vines are dense at about 5,500 per hectare. The steep slopes and rugged terrain naturally require the manual execution of all operations, as well as the harvest, which takes place at the moment of perfect ripeness of the grapes. The a night’s rest inside the winery serves to lower the temperature of the bunches, which are gently pressed the following morning after the harvest. The must is clarified through static clarification and brought into steel tanks for a slow alcoholic fermentation at low temperatures. The malolactic fermentation is blocked and the aging is carried out in steel for a period of several months. After a light clarification, the Pigato is bottled in the spring following the harvest.

The Pigato Riviera di Ponente from Du Nemu presents itself in a pale straw yellow color with slight greenish reflections. The nose is rich and complex, played on the sugary fruitiness of ripe pear and a crunchier yellow apple, against a backdrop of lemon blossom. The sip is fresh and rather taut, supported by an excellent mineral sensation and rightly softened by slight fruity hints. A balanced white to accompany fresh fish dishes, fried fish, or the raw shrimp from Sanremo.
