PIMM'S N°1 DESCRIPTION

Pimm's N°1 is an English liqueur with a fresh, fruity flavour that is exceptionally well suited to the preparation of aperitif cocktails. The origins of this liqueur date back to 1823, when entrepreneur James Pimm opened an oyster bar in London, a kiosk specialising in the sale of oysters and other shellfish. Looking for a combination that would aid digestion and enhance the flavour of the shellfish, James invented a cocktail made with gin, quinine and herbs that he began serving in a small glass called the N°1 Cup. It was so successful that in 1951, the entrepreneur marketed the first bottles of Pimm's N°1, produced according to a refined recipe that had remained a secret for centuries. Today, the brand belongs to Diageo, a major British group operating in the alcoholic drinks sector. By virtue of its strong ties with England, Pimm's N°1 was also elected as the official drink of the Wimbledon Tournament, the oldest tennis event in the world.

The secret recipe of the British liqueur Pimm's N°1 is based on a combination of gin, quinine, fruit and herbs. The selection of ingredients is very careful and there are only six people in the world who know the exact recipe.

N°1 Pimm's possesses a deep amber hue with mahogany tones. Vivid aromas of citrus fruits, herbs, roots, ginger and red fruits emerge on the nose. The taste is dry and assertive, warm and fresh at the same time, with a bitter aftertaste reminiscent of citrus fruits, coffee, liquorice and ginseng. Pimm's N°1 is a perfect base for cocktails with a refreshing flavour, in particular the eponymous Pimm's N°1, which in addition to this liqueur includes lemonade or ginger ale, fresh fruit, cucumber slices and ice.
