Pinot Nero 'Lafoa' Colterenzio 2021
The Pinot Noir "Lafoa" from the Colterenzio winery is a full-bodied and elegant red wine, made from three different plots located at 400 meters above sea level on morainic soils. It is aged for 12 months in barriques and expresses on the nose notes of small red fruits, berries, orange peel, red flowers, and hints of toasting and spices. On the palate, it has a linear, refined, and structured texture, with dense and delicate tannins.
The Alto Adige winery Colterenzio presents the Pinot Nero ‘Lafoa’, an elegant and articulated interpretation of this noble black grape variety. Pinot Noir is a grape variety originating from Burgundy, a wine region where this grape gives life to some of the most renowned and prestigious bottles in the world. Being particularly fond of cool climates, it is no coincidence that this variety has found among the alpine chains of Alto Adige one of the preferred territories in our Peninsula. “Lafoa” represents the flagship line of the Colterenzio cooperative, stemming from a project born in the late 1980s. The vineyards that give rise to this range are managed according to exceptional quality standards, with low yields and meticulous attention throughout all agronomic and enological phases.
The Colterenzio ‘Lafoa’ Pinot Nero is a pure expression of the eponymous variety from vineyards aged 15-35 years located at about 400 meters above sea level. Most of the grapes come from soils of morenic origin, composed of porphyry and dolomitic rocks, while the remaining part is cultivated on clayey-limestone soils rich in gravel. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels for about 3 weeks with controlled temperature skin maceration and, subsequently, the mass undergoes malolactic fermentation also in wooden barrels. The aging period lasts one year and occurs partly in new barriques and partly in second and third passage barrels.
In the glass, the Alto Adige Pinot Nero ‘Lafoa’ by Colterenzio displays a pure ruby red color. The olfactory panorama ranges from aromas of berries, cherry, citrus peel, and lavender to pleasant spicy notes. On the palate, it is refined and complex, with a velvety tannin that follows a clean, full, and fresh taste development. Long finish consistent with the sensations of the nose.
