Pinot Nero 'Meczan' Hofstatter 2024 - 37.5cl (tappo stelvin)
The Pinot Noir "Meczan" by Hofstatter is a medium-bodied red wine, with a fruity and elegant profile, born from one of the most vocated terroirs of South Tyrol. Delicate hints of cherry and berries blend with spicy notes. The taste is crisp and clean, balanced and smooth.
The Meczan by Hofstatter is a splendid fusion of fruit and spices that showcases the potential of Pinot Nero when grown in particular places and climates. A liquid of extreme typicity and with a touching quality-price ratio, it has managed to establish itself as a reference point for the type, offering an interpretation of everyday wine that was a meeting point between softness and fragrance.
The Pinot Nero "Meczan" by Hofstatter comes from grapes grown entirely in Mazzon, a small wine village in the province of Bolzano, which has distinguished itself as one of the most suitable areas for the production of Pinot Nero in Italy. Introduced in Alto Adige in the 19th century with excellent results, it was soon discovered that this French-origin red grape variety could give rise to internationally recognized products in this area. The centuries-old tradition of the Hofstatter family has not hindered progress regarding winemaking and aging techniques, perfecting a modern style supported by the best available technologies. After a careful selection of grapes, the fermented juice is poured into barrels, where aging takes place. The bunches are destemmed by 75%, while the remaining 25% is left whole, in order to ensure the typical balanced freshness and slightly astringent character typical of the grape variety.
The Pinot Nero "Meczan", just poured into the glass, shows a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose is a profusion of fresh and juicy fruit, including cherry and berries. On the palate, balance is its best quality, appearing perfectly balanced between a delicious softness and a lively contribution of freshness and sapidity. Tasty and flavorful, without giving up a long finish, it pairs with great satisfaction dishes based on poultry, roasts, and richly seasoned first courses. The elegance we would always want on our table.
