Pinot Nero Ottin 2023
The Pinot Noir by Ottin is an elegant, fresh, and fragrant red wine, with a lively and agile drinkability. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruits, spices, and mountain herbs emerge. On the palate, it is soft and round, with pleasant tannins.
From his winery, located in the Porossan Neyves area, Elio Ottin oversees Aosta and its valley. Here he is not only dedicated to the vineyard but also cultivates fruit and raises about twenty cows. From his actions and words, it is easy to understand how important the sentimental bond he has with this land and these hills is to him. In the 4 hectares of vineyards, located between Aosta, Saint Cristophe, and Quart, the rows reflect Elio's style, order, and ideas. All of which are aimed at respecting the environment, which is prioritized, so much so that currently the farm is entirely powered by energy from renewable sources.
The Pinot Nero from Ottin comes from grapes that are clearly not native to the Val d'Aosta. But it is equally born from the passion and love of the Ottin family for their land: here Pinot Noir has found a corner of land where it can develop its particular and unique characteristics. The vineyard has a sandy soil and is at 700 meters above sea level. The harvest is manual and generally takes place at the end of September, the grapes are then transferred to 30hl wooden vats and 20hl barrels, where they are vinified and aged for 10 months, followed by another 4 months in the bottle.
Ottin Pinot Nero is a beautiful intense and deep garnet red. The aromas that it releases from the glass are fine and delicate, of red fruits with hints of leather and spices making the olfactory bouquet intriguing and significant. Elio's wines are a reflection of his philosophy, just like this Pinot Nero: balanced and fruity on the nose, it is long and harmonious in the mouth, with a clean finish and excellent acidity. Persistence and pleasantness are the essential traits that Elio seeks to achieve with his wines, succeeding practically every time. Only in this way is it possible to taste wines that are certainly among the best in the region, for quality and fidelity to the terroir of the Valle d'Aosta.
