Pinot Nero Pojer e Sandri 2024
The Pinot Noir from Pojer e Sandri is an intriguing and generous red wine, made in Trentino from various plots in the Faedo area. After a brief aging in wood, it already reveals itself at the first sniff with sensations of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, animating a dense and convincing tasting experience, with beautiful freshness and an exhilarating fruity texture
The Pinot Nero from Pojer e Sandri is the red wine from a winery that has made history, not only in Trentino viticulture but throughout our peninsula. A bottle that combines the passion and work of Mario Pojer and Fiorentino Sandri, who, through research and tenacity over time, have enhanced the qualities of a territory, that of Trentino, which was not believed to be suited for high-quality viticulture. The fruit of genuineness is also found on the outside of the bottle, on the label, where all the products of the winery are "dressed" with some drawings by Albrecht Dürer, considered one of the greatest exponents of Renaissance German painting.
The vines used for the production of Pinot Nero from Pojer e Sandri root themselves in soils that are almost clayey-limestone, with various locations near the hills of Faedo (Trento), different altitudes, and different exposures. However, all share a fundamental characteristic: the Ora del Garda, that is, the breeze that comes from the nearby lake, which helps maintain a mild climate and avoid high humidity from affecting the quality of the grapes. The latter, once they arrive at the winery, are processed and thus begins the alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Subsequently, the Pinot Nero is allowed to rest for some months inside wooden barrels.
With a nose reminiscent of a basket of berries, such as blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries, the Pinot Nero from Pojer e Sandri unveils itself presenting great elegance and balance. It indeed brings no surprises; once the first sip is taken, it is consistent, vibrant, and so tense that it recalls the crunchiness of blueberries. The freshness and tonicity of this Pinot Nero allow for a wide and varied range of pairings, from a pasta dish with a good meat sauce to a complete platter of cold cuts and cheeses, especially if they are structured and have a strong flavor. It becomes a sure protagonist if brought as a thought to a dinner among friends, but it would not be the third wheel in a romantic evening.
