Portulano' Rosa del Golfo 2021
The "Portulano" is a soft, intense, and elegant red wine from Salento, made from Negroamaro grapes and, in small percentage, from Malvasia Nera, aged in large oak barrels. It emanates a spicy, fruity, and Mediterranean aromatic spectrum, with nuances of berries, licorice, and wild spices. The taste is balanced, full-bodied, and persistent.
The Salento red "Portulano" is a wine from Puglia that comes from a blend where Negroamaro plays the part of the undisputed protagonist. On the nose and palate, the typical characteristics of this grape variety can be recognized, with fruity and spicy notes that lead to a round sip, of good structure also thanks to the aging period spent in wood. A label signed by Rosa del Golfo that, to conclude, also offers a good gastronomic predisposition to accompany first and second courses of land.
The "Portulano" by Rosa del Golfo comes from a careful blend where, alongside Negroamaro, one of the reference grape varieties for regional oenology, we find 10% of Malvasia Nera. Both varieties grow with the bush training system, rooting in a red soil, characterized by a subsoil of clay and limestone, rich in iron, which surrounds the municipalities of Sannicola, Alezio, Parabita, Veglie, and Campi Salentino. The grapes, after harvesting, are pressed and statically decanted cold, and then fermented alcoholically in steel containers at a controlled temperature. We then proceed with the aging phase, in which the wine remains for 12 months in oak barrels until the bottling procedures begin.
This "Portulano" is a red wine that, in the glass, announces itself with a color reminiscent of ruby, intense and concentrated. The range of aromas that unfold on the nose develops a Mediterranean weave, where spices, red fruit jam, and balsamic notes alternate in a well-ordered vortex. On the palate, it has excellent body, enveloping, with a full and solid sip, characterized by a fine and well-harmonized tannic structure. A bottle with which the Rosa del Golfo winery, a significant production reality within the Salento region, receives unanimous and more than positive acclaim from the national industry critics.
